Hello and welcome to the Orange DogŪ Frequently
Asked Questions Page.
Question #1:
My dog smells, is it the diet? A. Sometimes the diet alone
can cause the problem. Other times, you'll need to bathe your pet more often. Of course, there are breeds of dogs
that produce an overabundance of the skin oil that causes the doggie smell. Try everything.
Question #2:
There are many products that supposedly remedy the smell, but many only work for a little while
(a few hours). What are the alternatives? A. If you are
going to use a product, make sure it is GREEN (natural) and make sure it doesn't use any substances that are poisonous.
Orange Dog is of course, both natural and non-toxic to dogs.
Question #3:
What about fleas, is there a way to prevent them naturally? A.
Unfortunately, there is no natural way to prevent fleas 100% of the time. Orange oil helps, but
it evaporates. Also there are other things such as Tea Tree oil that are also effective. Keep in mind, though,
Tea Tree oil has a rather unusual smell. Orange oil smells great, but you'll want to use something a little more
longer lasting. Try Orange Dog. It will last longer, smells terrific and will in fact, kill fleas on contact. There
are other orange based substances that are used to kill termites. Orange oils from the peel has many amazing properties.
Question #4:
Is Orange Dog safe for all pets?
A. Orange Dog has been formulated
for dogs, do not use it on cats. It may irritate their nasal
membranes. In fact, never spray it too onto their litter box as cats will avoid it and while the litter box may
smell wonderful, your house cat will find another places to use as its litter area.
Question #5:
Will Orange Dog control pests, i.e., fleas and other unwanted
insects? A. Orange Oil terminines are toxic to most insects
and while we do not advise, claim or market it as an insect repellent, we have noticed that it may cause sudden
death to virtually any insects that encounter Orange Dog.
Question #6:
How long will Orange Dog last when sprayed onto my dog's
fur? A. We have used the product for dogs with short hair
and it typically lasts 2-3 days. However, with a dog of a long haired variety, it may have a longer lasting effect.
Dogs with double coats, such as Huskies may not need it as often, however, when any dog variety hits the water,
you can expect a dog odor. It's advisable then to respray your dog.
Question #7:
Will Orange Dog cause any kind of allergic reaction?
A. Every dog is different and while Orange
Dog typically does not cause allergic reactions, some dogs might be sensitive to the
product. The obvious solution is to discontinue use, if adverse reactions occur.
Question #8:
Where has Orange Dog been used? A.
Orange Dog has successfully been used by groomers here in Florida
and in other parts of the country with dog owners throughout the U.S.
Question #9:
Is Orange Dog made from orange juice? A.
Orange Dog is derived directly from some of the components contained
within the peel of the orange, not the juice.
Question #10:
Can Orange Dog be used in a dog's bath while bathing my
dog. A. Yes, it can as it's soluble in water, however, it's
best used after bathing your dog when you just have towel dried your dog. Spray it onto your dog's coat avoiding
direct contact with eyes, nose or mouth as this may cause an irritation.
Question #11:
What other products does Orange Manufacture? A. Orange Dog makes a shampoo that contains 50% Orange Dog and 50% Aloe, pro-vitamin B5 and kosher glycerin.
It has been designed to not only kill odors, but also clean and condition your dog's coat.
Question #12:
What's the difference between a regular store bought people shampoo and a so-called 'dog shampoo'?
A. There several differences. First, a shampoo designed for people
has a more acidic base. The PH is significantly lower, in other words. more acid, while a dog shampoo requires
a neutral PH of between 6.5 to 7.5, with 7.0 being ideal.
Question #13:
How would the shampoo be used with the dog deodorizer and can't you just use a regular dog
shampoo and then follow up with the regular Orange Dog?
A. Certainly, but the Orange
Dog Shampoo is
designed to deodorize AND clean, as well, simplifying the
task at hand. Obviously, the first thing you'll need to do is clean your dog and you might as well eliminate the
odor with the odor controlling capabilities, while cleaning your dog and then follow up with the Orange Dog treatment
for maximum odor protection.
Question #14: What about cats, can Orange Dog deodorizer be used on cats? A.
Can Orange Dog be used on cats? No. Our product is designed for use on dogs. Cats have been reported to have nasal
irritation when sprayed on them and cats clean themselves and may ingest some of the orange oil ingredients which
may cause deleterious health effects.
